Nation-Building: The Role of Citizens in Protecting the Homeland and its ResourcesThe Ministry of Awqaf has announced the topic of today's Friday sermon (2 October 2026) will be "Nation-Building: The Role of Citizens in Protecting the Homeland and its Resources." The sermon will be delivered by imams and preachers in all mosques across the country. The topic emphasizes the importance of building awareness and preserving the nation's potential, countering attempts at skepticism and falsifying consciousness. It will highlight that loving the homeland and protecting it is a human instinct and a religious goal, affirming that safeguarding the state's gains and history is a shared responsibility passed down through generations. The sermon will also stress the importance of protecting the land and opposing attempts to incite strife or tamper with national resources, which is a societal responsibility. Preachers will call on the public to reject rumors, divisions, pessimism, and skepticism towards institutions. The sermon will note that nations are not built by casual words but by hard work, sincerity, understanding, and responsibility, citing the Prophet Muhammad's saying: 'You will conquer a land where the qirat is mentioned. Treat its people with kindness, for they have a covenant and kinship,' emphasizing the importance of preserving Egypt's security, dignity, and resources. Finally, the sermon will affirm that a conscious nation is a cornerstone in facing challenges and shaping the country's future, reiterating the role of pulpits in correcting concepts, raising awareness, and supporting development efforts. The ministry also announced the opening of 28 new mosques today, including 5 newly built, 11 renovated, and 12 maintained, bringing the total number of opened mosques since July 2026 to 263. The total number of mosques renovated and maintained since July 2014 reaches 14,942, with a total cost of approximately 29.131 billion EGP.
