Death toll climbs to 82 in Sudan gold mine collapse

The death toll from a gold mine collapse in West Kordofan, Sudan has risen to 82 according to local officials. The Kordofan Observatory reported that some miners may still be alive underground and has called for immediate rescue efforts. The collapse occurred in a deep well mine, and despite the high number of casualties, no specialized rescue teams have been deployed yet.

ارتفعت حصيلة انهيار منجم للذهب في غرب كردفان بالسودان يوم الثلاثاء إلى 82 قتيلاً، بحسب ما أفاد به مسؤول في الإدارة المحلية في غرب كردفان التابعة لقوات الدعم السريع التي تسيطر على المنطقة لوكالة فرانس برس اليوم الأربعاء.

وأفادت منظمة"مرصد كردفان المحلية" المعنية بالدفاع ​عن الحقوق بأن بعض عمال المنجم قد ​يكونون على قيد الحياة تحت الأرض، ودعت إلى بذل جهود إنقاذ عاجلة. وأفاد المتحدث باسم غرفة طوارئ مدينة النهود، سليمان أبو حميدة في وقت سابق لبي بي سي، عن وقوع انهيار فيمناجم تقليدية لتعدين الذهب في قرية"الرِقَيِّق" الواقعة في منطقة النهود، داخل منجم"الزَرْعْ" في ولاية غرب كردفان.

وقال أبو حميدة إن هناك ثلاثة ناجين مصابين بكسور متفاوتة، جرى انتشالهم من المناجم المهدمة، وسط مخاوف من ارتفاع حصيلة القتلى والمصابين بسبب وجود محتجزين تحت الأرض، ونتيجة توقف خدمات مراكز الرعاية الصحية في مدينة النهود بعد سيطرة قوات الدعم السريع عليها. وتشير المعلومات الأولية إلى أنّ ستة مناجم عميقة ومتلاصقة انهارت بسبب مياه الأمطار، ما أدى إلى انهيار سلسلة الآبار، وأنّ من بين المُعدنين الذين يعملون في هذا المنجم أطفال غير بالغين.

ولم تصدر حتى الآن أي جهة رسمية بياناً مفصلاً حول الحادث أو أعداد الضحايا النهائية، فيما تواصل فرق الإنقاذ عملها في ظروف بالغة الخطورة، بحسب ما أفادت به المصادر. ويعد التنقيب التقليدي عن الذهب مصدر رزق رئيسي للآلاف في ولايات كردفان، لكنه عمل يفتقر إلى معايير السلامة. ونقلت وكالة رويترز عن"مرصد كردفان"، أن أحد الناجين أبلغ عن وجود أحياء عالقين تحت الأرض.

وأكد المرصد لرويترز عدم تدخل فرق إنقاذ متخصصة، بينما تواجه محاولات السكان لإنقاذ العالقين وانتشال الجثث، صعوبات بسبب طبيعة الأرض الهشة والرملية. وفي إطار الحرب المستمرة في السودان، شهدت الأشهر الأخيرة توسعاً ملحوظاً في مناطق سيطرة القوات الحكومية على حساب قوات الدعم السريع، لا سيما في وسط البلاد وكردفان ودارفور. وأعلن الجيش السوداني الأسبوع الماضي تعزيز نطاق سيطرته في ولاية شمال كردفان، باستعادة منطقة"حمرة الوز" التابعة لمحلية جبرة الشيخ، وذلك بعد معارك مع قوات الدعم السريع.
