Klang MP Charles Santiago questioned why the LTTE members are not perceived as ‘freedom fighters’ in Malaysia — in the same way Palestinian supporters are.
He also said he was baffled as the men were not at “the top of the list, in terms of being gung-ho for the struggle of Tamil Eelam”.“It definitely raises a lot of questions because, even in Sri Lanka, the movement does not exist,” he told reporters when met at the Parliament lobby, adding that leaders of the group were killed in a civil war many years ago.
“There, the Israeli state goes after the Palestinians. Here, the Sri Lankan state goes after the Tamils. This is the only difference.
